Game news WoW: as soon as the Lich King Classic was announced, changes are planned for its continuation

As soon as Wrath of the Lich King was announced, Blizzard would already have its eyes on the future: this is what Ion Hazzikostas, the game’s director, suggests in an interview with Asmongold.

  • Flood already in the viewfinder?
  • What future for Warcraft?

Flood already in the viewfinder?

It probably made less noise than WoW: Dragonflight, but it was definitely present: on April 19, Blizzard took advantage of the announcement of the next World of Warcraft expansion to announce the arrival (or return?) Of the second WoW expansion. Like the WoW Classic and the Burning Crusade Classic, the Wrath of the Lich King will tickle the nostalgic fiber by returning to its original appearance this year. And after ? In an interview with Asmongold, a very popular content creator and streamer on Blizzard MMO, Ion Hazzikostas answered the question in two parts and put the players first:

At this point, we would like to hear your comments, those of the community as a whole, on what is to follow. We have a player base that has really made Classic their home, a lot of people have moved their characters from Classic to Burning Crusade and that will probably happen for the next expansion (…) Once the last boss is defeated, you will want to start from the beginning? Would you like to try another version? Or would you like to take this character on a new adventure?

What future for Warcraft?

And it is always the players who are at the center of the second part of Ionas Hatzikostas’s answer. For some of them, the third expansion of World of Warcraft (Cataclysm) is synonymous with significant changes in the game: the talent tree is simplified to the maximum, and it is possible to join the teleportation queues with a party in the dungeon of our choice. Initiatives that upset the players because they could spoil the feeling of a great trip for some, where you had to talk to the other players you met to move on to specific content. In any case, Ion Hatzikostas knows this and really wants to maximize the comments of the players before offering other things:

What do you dislike about Cataclysm? Were they dungeons heroic? Was the raid on the Lands of Fire bad? (…) What would it be like if we had Cata being content with “a few changes”?

In any case, Blizzard already seems to have its eyes on the post Lich King Classic and the future of Warcraft in general. Dragonflight, the next WoW expansion, was announced last week. Last night, Blizzard also revealed the release date of the in-game mobile game: it’s next Tuesday.
