Jars of honey sold by some distributors such as Carrefour, E. Leclerc and Intermarché have just been withdrawn from sale and are subject to store recall. The reason ? The taste and color do not match and could lead to organoleptic changes.

Recovery of honey products

Fortunately, these products pose no risk to our health, but only to our palate! The website Rappel.conso.gouv.fr invites customers to stop consuming them and to return them to the point of sale as soon as possible or to contact customer service at 04 77 67 17 33 (free call).

Where can I find the list of recalled products?

You can find the full list of recalled products on the recall.conso.gouv.fr platform. This site, established by the Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF) in April 2021, lists all product recalls sorted by category (food, hygiene and beauty, home and habitat). For each recall procedure, the reference (batch number) and the photo of the product are reported as well as the risks that arise. Only medicines are not included in the list.

You can also find all product recalls on your Twitter account @RappelConso or related brand websites.

Product recalls: a site for finding all dangerous products

The list of all product recalls will be available this Thursday on the government-run Rappel conso website.

Pizzas, chocolates, cheeses, ice cubes. All product recalls will now be reported through a single portal from April 1, 2021. It is no longer necessary to search for information on websites and media to find out if a product is unsafe or defective. An informed consumer is worth two.

A communication problem

Consumer products (food, household, childcare, etc.) that pose risks to the health or safety of consumers can be recalled. If the recall is made before the product goes on the market, it will never reach the supermarkets. But if, unfortunately, a product is recalled after the sale, buyers are forced to return the product to the store for destruction.

Retailers behind product recalls are required to notify governments and consumers through their websites, social media and media.

Listeria

Unfortunately, information often escapes, leaving many users in the dark.

A website accessible to all

To combat this phenomenon and better inform consumers, the Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF) has set up a portal with all product recalls mentioned in France. This site, rappel.conso.gouv.fr, free and available from Thursday, April 1, 2021, is intended to be the only site for alerts for dangerous products.

Honey

In this portal, product recalls will be categorized into different topics (food, hygiene-beauty, habitat, home appliances-tools, etc.) with a photo of the product, brand, risk and possibly batch number and / or relevant geographical area. Medicines, on the other hand, will be absent from this list. Drugs and medical devices will continue to be declared to the National Agency for Drug Safety (ANSM) in accordance with applicable procedures, the Ministry of Economy clarifies.

All this information will be analyzed by the professional himself, who will be obliged to declare all his recalls on this site by filling in a product sheet. So everything rests on the shoulders of the companies, which we hope will soon react.
