The future Renault Grand Austral which could be called Espace (this model leaves the range this year) will come to fight against the Peugeot 5008, the future Nissan X-Trail and the Volkswagen Tiguan (as well as Seat Tarraco cousins, Skoda Kodiaq ). He will arrive in mid-2023 and will have the same pace as his brother Renault Austral, who has just started his career. There will be a change in the wheelbase level with an increase of 7 cm, so that the rear seat passengers (split and sliding) will benefit from a little more space on the knees. The rear protrusion should be extended by about ten centimeters before you can fit two extra seats in the boot.
The boot should be large in five-seater with more than 600 liters. Remember that the Australian is already a good student with a volume ranging between 500 and 575 liters depending on the seat position (430 liters for the hybrid). With a length of about 4.70 m, the Renault Grand Austral will of course take the place of the Renault Koleos which will not be renewed.
No change in advance
In order to streamline production as much as possible and reduce costs, many parts of Australia will be used in Grand Austral. The whole front, up to the middle leg, will be identical. Only the rear with increased wheelbase and protrusion will require the creation of specific components for this model. On the other hand, for the engines no change and the Renault Grand Austral will have micro-hybrid petrol units 48V 130 hp and 12 V 140 and 160 hp and will also have hybrid engines 160 and 200 hp. Compared to Renault Austral, the Renault Grand Austral should have higher prices of € 1,800 according to our estimates.
Complete SUV attack
This model, which will be unveiled early next year for marketing six months later, will mark the beginning of a major Renault SUV attack. Indeed, the diamond brand plans to expand its range with a Renault Austral Coupé, a Renault Captur Coupé (which will replace the Renault Arkana because it will be 4.40 m long) and a Renault Scénic that will be transformed into an electric SUV that will take over the technical basis of the electric Renault Mégane E-Tech. Enough to stun all SUV fans, especially since all these new models will be on the market in less than three years!
